Licia Ginne, Psy.D., MFT Counseling, Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis Santa Cruz & Capitola

I believe people work to achieve success and happiness in the best ways they know how and at times we all get stuck. I have found counseling or psychotherapy (two words for the same thing) can be helpful. As a psychotherapist I offer help to expand perspectives and find alternative solutions. Helping people through this process of change brings meaning to my life, makes me curious and is how I make my living as a psychotherapist.

I blend over 35 years of experience in the addiction and mental health field to create a working style of insight-oriented psychotherapy (counseling) and contemporary psychoanalysis (this isn’t your old Freudian analysis), add in experience working with individuals and couples, trauma and addictive behaviors. Together we create a collaborative working relationship to explore and understand patterns in your life and relationships, to expand options, uncover emotions and communication.

My experience has been built on working in different mental health and addiction programs: In-patient & out-patient adult alcohol & drug programs (including one of the few residential adult programs for pregnant addicts and mothers with their children living on site), in-patient eating disorders, out-patient sexual addiction, out-patient & in-patient psychiatric, community mental health programs and the in-patient & out-patient John Bradshaw Co-dependency program. Starting with a part-time private and eventually moving into full-time private practice.  Some of my areas of expertise are: addiction or abuse of alcohol, drugs and sexual behaviors; those with eating disorders, depression, anxiety, stress, relationship struggles (to get in one or get out of one) and relationship and marital counseling, communication problems; adults with histories of childhood abuse; and people simply wanting to make creative changes to their lives.

For 27 years my practice was in Santa Monica, CA and 6 years ago I moved to Santa Cruz, CA.  I have found the deepest rewards in being a psychotherapist and am excited about bringing my style of psychotherapy to Santa Cruz.
